Christmas Overture

by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Christmas Overture appeared posthumously in 1925, some years after Coleridge-Taylor’s tragically early death at the age of 37. It was arranged by Sydney Baynes, and features God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, and Hark the Herald Angels Sing. The overture is thought to have been put together from incidental music Coleridge-Taylor wrote for a children's play called The Forest of Wild Thyme.
