Katia Tesarczyk

2016 Young Artist Competition Winner

Katia Tesarczyk (14 years old), started the violin at age 4 ½ with Lucia May. She is currently a student of Sally O’Reilly.

Katia has attended Bravo! String Institute at the University of Minnesota, and the Pienza Music Festival in Tuscany. She has performed in solo and chamber music masterclasses for Yair Kless, Eriko Tsuchihashi, Patrick Strub, Jonathan Magness, John Gilbert and Henning Kraggerud.

She was first prize winner in the 2016 MTNA West Central Division Junior Strings Competition, finalist in the 2015 MTNA National Competition for Junior Strings, first prize in the 2016 Dakota Valley Symphony Young Artist Concerto competition, first prize in the 2015 Minnesota Sinfonia Concerto Competition; and first prize in the 2015 Mary West Competition for Strings. Katia has also been a scholarship winner of the Schubert Club and a scholarship recipient of the Twin Cities Musicians Union, the Music Teachers National Association and the Minnesota Music Teachers Association. She has been a soloist with the Minnesota Sinfonia Orchestra, and will also perform as soloist with the Dakota Valley Symphony this spring. She has performed in recitals at the Schubert Club Courtroom Series in Saint Paul; the Escuela Moderna in Santiago, Chile; and the Pienza Music Festival in Italy.

Katia enjoys drawing and painting in her free time.
